Chinese New Year

I went downtown for the Chinese New Year Celebrations this year. Chinatown is my favourite place in Victoria. I love the old buildings, the alleyways, the bustling markets and the delicious food. My favourite spot is "The Bubble Tea Place" by Dragon Alley. (Okay, how cool is the name Dragon Alley!?!) During the stress of University, I'd go and sit by the window in this AMAZING building, enjoying a bubble tea amongst the delicious smells of tea and incense. This place rocks.

For those of you who have never had bubble tea, it's a tea based drink with a mixture of fruit flavours with tapioca balls and "fruit jellies" in the bottom. You can get it milk based too. I prefer the fruitier ones myself. The straws are huge, so you drink the tea and eat the jellies and tapioca at the bottom. If you're ever in the area, go check it out, it's always good to try new things!

Victoria's Chinatown is the oldest in Canada, which is pretty neat. I love being able to share my beautiful city. :)

Doll Number 8

Hello hello!

Earlier this week I was pretty sure I'd be photographing a pile of knitted limbs. My wrist wasn't doing too good (like, having to stop everything to ice it most evenings---argh!) but I managed to pull ahead and finish Charlie! I've always thought Charlie was a cute name for a girl (Charlotte--- Charlie?) I'm LOVING The bright baby blue I recently purchased. I'm excited to use it in more combinations, but I think it looks smashing with the red.

Happy Weekend! I'm looking forward to this weekend so much. I plan on just doing fun creative things and relaxing. Sounds like a good weekend to me! 

The cherry blossoms are starting to blossom, and although it POURED rain this morning, it's sunny and bright (if not a bit chilly). Are things looking like spring where you are? Or is it still snowy and frosty?

Tuesday Treasures

Happy Tuesday Everyone! This Tuesday Treasures is a bit of a mishmash, but I'm loving the bright colours and retro feel.

I've been thwarted in my knitting... I've been told to rest my wrists, which are rather unhappy with me at the moment. I'm currently sitting on the couch with ice packs and blankets... (It's cold!) and of course I have a million creative ideas because I can't do anything... (always the way, isn't it?)

I also have accidentally blue hair. I tried to bleach barely noticeable purple bangs blonde... And it went blonde and baby blue... Whoops! I had to put blue dye to make it uniform....  We'll see how it looks! Update: they weren't kidding about atomic turquoise!

Doll Number 7

Happy Friday everyone!

The sun is shining and I'm feeling very motivated to do some mass cleanings and organizings... so I'll keep this short. Here's this week's dollie--- Lucita! I'm in love with her vibrant and colourful sweater! It was so much fun to knit. I'm really enjoying the beehive/pigtail combination lately (really, you hadn't noticed?) I love the 1960's vibe it gives. (also makes them extra huggable--- more to love!)

I recently bought a lovely knitting needled case and a plethora of bamboo knitting needles off Etsy. (Seriously, so much cheaper than Michaels!! Astoundingly so!) Because I have so many sizes now, I can knit with a variety of yarn weights! Horray! I have now acquired a bunch of fun colours that weren't available in the yarn that I usually buy--- so I'm very inspired to keep knitting up a rainbow of loveable friends!
