Bears and Robots - Oh my!

Hello Everyone!

I've been a little knitting obsessed the last few days. I can't seem to ever have a balanced life--- I get excited about something and out goes everything else!

I made two different types of softies this week-- a bear and a robot!

This little bear is for my little 'nephew' (I'm an only child, so I count my cousin's kids as my niece and nephew). The little guy is turning 1! He doesn't live here, so I've never had a chance to meet him-- so I decided to be the fun 'Auntie' that sends him cards and makes him things.

I love this little bear... He has such a cute little expression and I'm so happy with how the colours came out! When you're sitting on your couch with a dozen balls of yarn in your lap-- it can be a daunting task! Here he is!

This little lady is my newest creation! She's Kamiko the Robot! I have a weird love of Japanese names... and the Japanese are much more advanced technologically... and make everything cute: hence Kamiko. (^_^) The name Kamiko also means "Superior Child"... and the nerd in me thought that was fun. She's only for children +3 with her safety eyes, and maybe even older with the buttons. I can always embroider eyes and use felt for buttons if the order is for a small child.

So, that's what I've been up to lately. I'm using knitting to blow off steam from the extremely frustrating class at Sprott Shaw right now. The material is all to do with business (I'm an MOA-- remind me why I need to take this?) and the multiple choice tests usually have two answers that are equally right. *happy place*

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Did you have productive weeks? If you're in Victoria, be sure to check out the Oak Bay Tea Party and watch the fireworks tonight!!

Tuesday Treasures

Hello Everyone! Sorry I haven't been updating as much as I would like to... I'm still in the scheming  and making process for some new ideas! I finished two little mermaids last week and have received another order... so I've been a busy bee.

I attended my first MOA meeting on Saturday, which was a great experience. I'm looking forward to becoming part of that community... and can't wait to get a job. School is getting a bit laborious lately...they've stopped teaching the MOA portion and now it is all business centered... which contradicts a lot of what I just learned. It's basically just filler. I have much more time now though, so I'm not complaining!!

I'm loving the mermaid designs-- aren't they cute?

Here's this week's Tuesday Treasures... Hello Kitty Style

Tuesday Treasures

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I woke up with a sore throat on the day of my last exam, and after writing it, I came down with a full-blown flu! Boo! My friend jokes, "Karen, if you didn't have bad luck, you wouldn't have any!" I'm starting to think she's right! I was supposed to meet up with my friend from home, Stephanie, who I see on a bi-yearly visit too! I thought I would be uploading lovely photos of our excursions in Victoria... but my fever had other plans. Talk about bad timing. I spent my weekend on the couch, my face in a Kleenex and my head in a pillow. I watched an entire season of the AMC show "The Killing" (cheerful, I know) and it's really good! It is set in Seattle but apparently it's filmed in Vancouver (which is very close to me!) There's nothing like a television marathon to pass the time when you're bedridden and icky.

This week doesn't have a set theme--- just cheerful things that make me happy.

Tuesday Treasures

I've had quite the week! My boyfriend and I were t-boned driving home from my school last Tuesday. It wasn't our fault, and if the guy had been looking while turning left over multiple lanes, he would've been able to slow down in time. Sadly, he gunned it--- into me! I'm so lucky to be in one piece! I'm very sore all over though, which has been a fun element added to my super-stressful last week of school!

On the bright side, I'm taking a very simple, almost-homework-less class for the next month, so I should be able to craft, update, and post pictures more often! Horray!

I can't believe it's almost May! My mum planted her garden two weeks ago, and things are already sprouting! I'm super excited about all the fresh veggies-yum! My absolute favourites are the beet tops! They taste so yummy cooked with a little bit of margarine or in salads with raspberry vinaigrette dresssing. I can't wait! This week's Tuesday Treasures is veggies and garden theme! Enjoy!
